CR Associates prepared an active transportation monitoring plan and performed initial data collection in support of the Chollas Creek to Bayshore Bikeway Multi-Use Path design project.  Locations were sited to perform screen line counts to estimate total active transportation demand in the planned Chollas Creek Multi-Use Path’s vicinity. The counts included a combination of peak period manual counts and 24-hour, continuous automated counts. Cyclists observed riding on the sidewalk were also recorded and differentiated during the manual counts to inform safety perceptions. The counts will serve as baseline measures to estimate changes and responses following the Chollas Creek Multi-Use Path’s implementation. In addition to the counts, bicycle and pedestrian intercept surveys were prepared and conducted to better understand issues and concerns facing active transportation commuters, perceptions of safety, trip purpose, vehicle trip replacement, and travel times and distances.
