CR Associates is responsible for preparing the Mobility Element for the City of Indio’s General Plan Update.  Working with input from community members, City staff, and other key stakeholders, the Mobility Element will identify a future vision and implementation plan that is reflective of existing transportation-related issues and anticipates future needs for the next 20 to 30 years.  The Mobility Element takes a holistic approach, addressing the needs of users of all transportation modes, with an added emphasis on improving bicycle and pedestrian mobility, especially around schools, parks, and other key trip attracting land uses.  Indio is unique in that it experiences varying population levels throughout the year, attracting more residents during the winter months, as well as an influx of tourists during the spring and summer months due to the City’s many festivals.  The Mobility Element Update is being prepared to address the shifting demand placed on the transportation network, ensuring access to key destinations is not hampered by population increases.
